Or "yet another relaunch".

Since I've got an official server now, the site has been boosted up and relaunched once again.

I hope you like the fresh design ^__^

The last day

- 2008-04-30

The last day in my old company.

It was really chilled. My best friend elpado wanted to buy some flasks of beer - well we'd buy malt-beer and some pretzels :-P

Five and a half year.... My office was like a second home and my colleagues were like my family. Sad, sad, sad ....

Well - I'm watching torwards the future. It can only be better - and my honey is giving me hold ^__^

So long

Freedom, here I come

- 2008-04-15

Hi there !

After almost five and a half year I signed off my contract of employment in my company today. Apprenticeship... daily work... no holiday without phone calls and email barrage... more and more work day by day... no planning at all... Enough !

Before I'm the last man standing and screwed up in my brain, I go with a smile on my face.

A follow-up company is present, so the decision was easy for me.

Hoping for the best.

By the way. Nice is not forgotten ! Currently I'm working on the XNA-Content-Pipeline plugin, model class (including skinning) and wondering about some strange texture mapping problems.

That should be enough for now :-P

Running idle ?

- 2008-01-27

Then do like I did and join the world community grid and fight cancer !!

Participate in the "Help Conquer Cancer" project today !

The project takes advantage of the boinc client like other distributed computing projects, SETI@home for example. So come on and do something usefull when you do nothin' else than watching youtube :/\]

Spambots

- 2008-01-19

Are so funny... after one spam-posting in my guestbook (why the heck is nobody writing there ?! Shame on you !! Write german, french or chinese if you like, but write !) I have a look at each posting before publishing it. Stop wasting your bandwidth... the three post per day are deleted by script you stupid suckers !!

My parents are currently having a chillout in the carribean sea. Why have a mobile phone if you turn it off ?! Roaming ?! True, but I would not call if speaking to them wouldn't be neccessary... Damn it.

The past week was too lazy.. hoping on some more trouble next one.

By the way... is it sick to eat an instant chili con carne with three to four china chilis as an flavour boost without having some sense of... uhm... hot flavour in your mouth ?!

So long - hot burns two times.

Happy 1984

- 2008-01-01

Oh my gosh... I am drunk..

So very short: Berlin Zoo in winter is very neat, especially if you've got someone special around ya :-P
Icebear Knut reminds me of myself on a sunday morning. Naaaahh.. I won't get up right now!! - but the christmas tree *scussi* the pillow below my neck doesn't fit anymore. So cute !!

Peace y'all - have a great new year !!

Pain is just a word...

- 2007-12-29

... this strain is much worse.

Yesterday I went to a little bowling session again after several years. Very, very bad results, but it's fun and that's what really counts !
I think, I saw too many martial arts movies in the past, or why else would I throw the ball with my right leg outstretched and use only the thigh to push me up again ? *ouch*

That'll hurt for the next days, but on the other hand, my lumbar spine isn't hurting any more :/\]

Have fun and "guten Rutsch" as we germans say :-D

Have a happy New Year !

Merry Xmas everyone !

Time to move on

- 2007-11-30

It's time to move on with nice development.

As I started with the engine, XNA was beta or almost in RC state - and so not very usefull. After having a look at what can now be done (have a look at Benjamin Nitschkes Blog at abi.exdream.com !!) I decided to migrate the poor stuff coded so far to the XNA plattform. After two weeks of migration I can now say: It was the right decision.

So many things which were hard to develop in MDX are very easy now. The migration itself took only about six to eight hours - but the development of a pixelshader for direct screen coord rendering was the tricky part. Big respect and props to SHoffe for the math basics here (and a respect for the other thing - you know what I mean).

The console command support needs a refresh asap (what tha heck did I code there ?!). For now the newest thing is a little tool called niceResourceCompiler and my internal SVN support. In fact nRC is only a tool used to create ZIP files which can be used as a data package in the engine.

The nice section on this page will be refreshed this weekend - I promise :-P

I, max

- 2007-10-23

Hello again !

Today I went for the first time to a 3D movie in the IMAX - SONY Centre at the Potsdamer Platz.

The movie itself was quiet lame, but the effects are stunning. You could nearly grab the objects ! Neat, neat, neat :/\] Did I mention the audio system ? No ? Wow... 25k Watts in such a small room shake you through !!

A fine experience to me.

nice again

- 2007-09-20

It's time to reveal at least some details of the nice engine which have been implemented yet and to be done in the future. As said, it'll be programed in C# using MDX and be shipped as a single library - okay, with some helpers. My goal is to provide a quick support for some very basic 3d stuff.

Things that have already been done (boring):

  • User devicemode selection *urg*
  • Console support, with programable commands
  • Keyboard mapping capabilities

Things that have to be done (I need a clone of my own):
  • XML based assignment of commands and keyboard mappings
  • Camera system
  • View frustum culling (octree and quadtree)
  • Support for x files and user defined quad-meshes
  • Skyboxes und skyspheres
  • Multitexturing
  • Shader support, including dot3 bumpmap and parallax mapping
  • Lighting system
  • Audio system

*phew* and that is only a short overview...

Meet tha old crew

- 2007-09-16

Hello again :/\]

Yesterday I met my old colleagues from my apprentenship. It was quiet nice to see at least some of them again after all the time. So I'm shouting out to them: Let's meet more often, dudes !

On the other hand... no - more - alcohol *burp* - Really a hard booze-up ...

21th Long Night of Museums

- 2007-08-26

It's 6:20 in the morning and I returned from a wonderful night in central Berlin.

For those of you, who don't know this event: Two times a year all great museums and some other very neat institutions are opening their gates from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. for the people. A special bus line is introduced, to provide quick access between locations.

So I took the opportunity to visit the Berlin cathedral (stunning...) including cupola and the crypta with so famous peoples coffins (in fact sarcophaguses) like Friedrich 1st and 2nd. On the other hand it was kind of shocking to see so many childrens coffins down there... Nevertheless it was worth the trip (THX Stef :/\]).

After that we went to see the Zeughaus in which the weapons were stored in the time of King Friedrich 1st. Inside there is a coutyard called Schlüterhof. Imagine a pink, roofed cladding - neat !

Finally we went to see as much of the greek and islamistic period (well... the Ishtar Gate) in the Pergamon museum as we could. In fact you could spend a whole day alone for this.

Overall it was the best pre birthday evening since aeons for me.

AdWords Academy

- 2007-07-27

I went for two days to the Google AdWords Academy in Hamburg.

In short: Fairly impressive !!

Our friendly Google-Guys gave a lecture about the quality factor in AdWords, campaign optimization and the future of Google-Maps and Google-Earth. I got some very neat impressions and tips there :/\]

By the way: The academy took place in the Side-Hotel. This hotel alone was worth the trip.

nice

- 2007-06-13

Hi there !

If you've read my about section, you maybe have noticed that I'm currently coding my own little C# 3d engine. As soon as possible I will add some source files here and publish some documentation or video tutorials about that :/\]

So why does this here have the headline "nice" ?
"nice" is a acronym for "nice - is a c# engine" - very constructed, but I needed a working title asap...

So far for now - details will follow.

Relaunch

- 2007-05-30

Finally, after several years I made it. Welcome to my new homepage ! Hopefully you like the design and the new stuff, which will be added here soon.

For now, there are only a few areas of this page realy working, so don't expect too much :/\]
