Time to move on

- 2007-11-30

It's time to move on with nice development.

As I started with the engine, XNA was beta or almost in RC state - and so not very usefull. After having a look at what can now be done (have a look at Benjamin Nitschkes Blog at abi.exdream.com !!) I decided to migrate the poor stuff coded so far to the XNA plattform. After two weeks of migration I can now say: It was the right decision.

So many things which were hard to develop in MDX are very easy now. The migration itself took only about six to eight hours - but the development of a pixelshader for direct screen coord rendering was the tricky part. Big respect and props to SHoffe for the math basics here (and a respect for the other thing - you know what I mean).

The console command support needs a refresh asap (what tha heck did I code there ?!). For now the newest thing is a little tool called niceResourceCompiler and my internal SVN support. In fact nRC is only a tool used to create ZIP files which can be used as a data package in the engine.

The nice section on this page will be refreshed this weekend - I promise :-P
